Making Tax Digital and Garage Assistant

Garage Assistant isn't an accounting package as such, since it doesn't require / cater for all accounting needs and therefore, cannot be used solely to submit digitally to HMRC for Making Tax Digital. 

However, Garage Assistant contains a great deal of functionality tailored to the motor industry that is not provided in the vast majority of accounting systems and is therefore a perfect compliment to such a system.  Garage Assistant also supports digital transfer (via exports) for accounting purposes, such as to Sage Accounts, which in turn can be used to submit to HMRC as required.

Therefore, using Garage Assistant alongside a package such as Sage 50 CloudAccounts, you will be able to adhere to the rules for Making Tax Digital, whilst still benefiting from the additional functionality and ease of use that Garage Assistant provides.

With Garage Assistant GA4, you can also customise the export format for use with other third party applications, however, these are not officially supported and you will need to check with your software vendor as to what can/cannot be imported and what format's / fields are required in order to setup a custom export from GA4.   See Custom Accounts Exporting for more details.
