Email Settings

In order to send Emails from within Garage Assistant, you need to setup the SMTP server details supplied by your email provider.  Under most circumstances, the advanced settings will not need to be changed, however, the SMTP Server Address, username and password will need to be entered.

The settings required are the same as those used to setup outgoing email within regular email applications, such as Outlook, Thunderbird or Mail on mac OS.

For GA4:

Go to: Admin > Configuration > Email / SMS Settings
Change or set Outgoing (SMTP) mail server to that of your email provider
Change or set Email username and password to that of your email account.

For GA3:

Go to: Admin > Email Server Settings > Under Mail Server SMTP Settings
Change or set the username and password to that of your email account
Change or set the Mail Server to that of your email provider.

We can only provide limited support regarding setting up of emails, most of which is contained within this and the linked articles, since each provider may have their own requirements and procedures in order to use their service and the vast number of providers available, it is beyond the scope of our support.  If you are having problems, it is adviseable to contact your provider for advice and their procedures.

We cannot guarantee every provider will be compatible with our system, although if your provider offers SMTP access, and allows SMTP Authentication (usually requiring either your account password, or an "App password" generated from their control panel), then there should be no issues with connecting to your provider.

Some of the most common settings, alongside information on 2 step authentication can be found in the following articles (SMTP Settings are at the bottom).

If you are still unsure, search the internet for "SMTP Settings [Email Provider Name]" or contact your email provider directly for the details required.

Once you have the details, be sure to enter the SMTP Server Address and your email accounts authentication details, normally your email address and password.

If you have "two-step verification" or "two-factor authentication" enabled with your email provider; usually a requirement,  whereby they send you a short code when logging in from an unknown machine, you may get a failure to authenticate error when testing the connection or trying to send an email from Garage Assistant.  If this happens there may be additional steps required within your email provider settings, see this article for more info:

SMS Settings

By default this is set to the UK +44 number.

If you are outside the UK then please select from the drop down box. If your code does not appear in the list then please contact us for more information. We will try to accommodate but cannot guarantee that we will be able to provide this service for every Country.

You need to enter a number or name from which the SMS is being received under. Please note that if you use a name instead of a number the customer won't be able to reply back to the SMS.
