Dealing with Private Number Plates
Garage Assistant can handle private number plates retaining history, however since there can be two different scenarios, there is also two ways of dealing with it..
1. The customer bought a new car and kept their private plate i.e A1 BCD:
In which case, entering A1 BCD would bring up the old car.
How to re-use that registration mark for a new car :
On the document screen there is a button for 're assign' next to the registration field
Clicking this will allow you to enter the new vehicle details against A1 BCD
The old car will remain in the database, however the reg will change to A1 BCD* (date_here) to reflect when it changed. This means you can still search on the registration and find both cars.

2. The customer has kept the same car but bought a private plate (or you are correcting a mistake):
In which case the car details are correct, you just need to change the registration and link history. i.e GU54 DWE changed to A1 BCD
Simply change the registration to what is required via the vehicle profile screen.
It should not be done in the document screens as this only changes the details for the document, not the vehicle.
Once changed, you would then put the original registration in one of the three 'Prev Reg x' fields, this would keep the history linked between both registrations.
